Reactive Dog

$450 + HST for 6 weeks (each session is 1.5 hours in length)

Taught by Nicole Tryon

Does your dog:

  • Get super excited and can’t calm down
  • Pull, bark or lunge at other dogs, people, or cars on walks
  • Get frustrated and nippy when they can’t reach something
  • Take forever to settle down after seeing other dogs or people
  • Listen perfectly at home but seem to forget everything outside

Our 6-week Reactive Dog program will help you both handle these challenges better. You’ll learn practical ways to keep your dog calm in stressful situations while building your bond!

With just 2 dogs in class, you’ll get lots of 1:1 attention. We use visual barriers, separate entrances and plenty of space so everyone stays safe and comfortable while learning.

We’ll teach you to understand your dogs’ body language better and spot stress signs early. Using positive, reward-based methods, we’ll build your dog’s confidence step by step. Starting with easy situations, we’ll gradually work up to tougher ones. You will also get practice exercises and support between classes.

This course works best for dogs who get over-excited or nervous but aren’t aggressive in nature. If your dog has bitten someone, another animal or shows serious aggression, please email us at dogstudio@ahobf.ca so we can see if a group class is appropriate.

What You’ll Learn:

  • What sets your dog off and how to work at a distance they’re comfortable with
  • How to prevent reactions before they happen
  • Ways to change your dog’s emotional response to triggers
  • How to understand what your dog is telling you through their body language
  • Step-by-step training plans you can follow
  • What to do in emergency situations

Before Starting You’ll Need:

  • Up to date vaccinations or titer for your dog
  • A martingale collar
  • A 4 to 6-foot leash
  • A treat pouch full of HIGH value rewards
  • A quick behavior check-up with our trainer (15 minute zoom call after registration)
